The purpose of this blog: Taking notes while reading the Bible slows me down, helps me focus and forces me to examine details. Making it public encourages me to research names and places and gives me accountability to readers, imagined or actual.
Structure: I am loosely following a daily Bible reading plan that includes both Old Testament (chronologically) and New Testament readings. At the beginning, I tried to include all those readings, but with time I have found it more beneficial to concentrate on one covenant at a time. Though it was designed to complete in a year, at this date (12/3/2010), I anticipate it will take about 3-1/2 years to finish the reading and notes.
Version: For this reading I am using the New Revised Version. Using this unfamiliar and modern English version has enabled me to see familiar verses in a new light and with new understanding. For clarification, I occasionally consult other versions.
