Girl with a Pearl Earring Revisited

Just visited a website devoted to this painting (http://girl-with-a-pearl-earring.20m.com). Apparently the book's characters are based on real people, but their characterizations are not. There is no evidence that Vermeer and his wife had anything but a loving relationship. Catherine's devotion and protectiveness of his work after his death indicates she fully supported his artistic passion. Although the book hints that she was forbidden to enter his studio because of her clumsiness, she appears to have been a model in several of his paintings.

Thanks for blazing the trail for me! This is about the third book I've gotten from the library as a result one of your reviews. I'll try to remember to let you know what I thought about it. I also appreciate you giving us "the rest of the story."
