Ezekiel 2

1-10 The Vision of the Scroll

Continuation from Chapter 1: Ezekiel has seen an astounding vision of a fiery chariot with four four-faced creatures, over which there’s a dome above which a form sits on a throne. After Ezekiel falls to his face, he hears someone speaking to him.

  • The voice tells Ezekiel to get up, and a spirit within Ezekiel sets him on his feet.
  • The voice tells Ezekiel he is sending him to speak to the people of Israel: a rebellious people, just like their ancestors.
  • When you tell them, “Thus says the LORD,” even if they don’t obey, at least they’ll know there’s been a prophet among them.
  • Do not be afraid of their words, no matter what they do to you.
  • Don’t rebel like they have; open your mouth and eat what I give you.
  • When I looked, there was a scroll, written on the front and back with words of lamentations and woe. He sees only the scroll on an outstretched hand.

I wonder where the four creatures went. Are they hovering while the voice speaks, or did they sweep out of sight?
