1-12 The Divine Glory Return to the Temple
1-5 The man brings Ezekiel to the gate facing the east, where he sees “the glory of the God of Israel” coming with power, a vision like he had seen by the river Chebar. It lifted Ezekiel up and took him into the inner court of the temple.
6-9 While the man stood beside Ezekiel, he heard a voice coming out of the temple: Mortal, this is my throne. Israel shall no longer defile my name. Let them put away their idolatry, and I will reside with them forever.
10-12 Mortal, describe the temple to Israel, and when they become ashamed, describe the details to them, so they will follow the plan. This is the law of the temple: the whole territory around it shall be holy.
13-27 The Altar
13-17 Measurements of the altar base, hearth and ledge
18-21 Instructions for dedicating the altar: On the day it is erected, the levitical priests of Zadok’s family will offer a bull for a sin offering.
22-27 On the second day: a male goat, bull and ram, and for seven days a daily offering of a goat, bull and ram, all without blemish. After that God will accept the people’s burnt offerings and offerings of well-being [peace offerings in other translations].
