1-9 Jerusalem’s Victory: An Oracle
1-4a All the nations will gather against Judah, but the LORD will blind and panic their horses and make their riders insane.
4b-5 But he will watch over the house of Judah, so the inhabitants will recognize their strength comes from God, the LORD of hosts.
6 He will make Judah like a blazing pot that devours all the peoples to the right and to the left.
7-9 Judah will have victory first, so Jerusalem will not be exalted over it; even the feeblest shall be like David, with God as their head.
10-14 Mourning for the Pierced One
10-14 God will make the house of David and Jerusalem mourn for the one they have pierced, each family mourning as if for an only child, or a firstborn. Most commentators apply this to the crucifixion of Christ, which makes sense to me because of the word pierce. and mourning for sins, as will be demonstrated in Acts 2: "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
